Elon Musk wants to discharge industrial waste into the Colorado River of Central Texas as part of The Boring Company expansion

The new darling of the Republican Party for his recent purchase of Twitter is trying to discharge hundreds of thousands of gallons of treated wastewater every single day.

Billionaire Elon Musk’s Gapped Bass LLC has reportedly asked the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) for permission to discharge more than 140,000 gallons of pollution into the Colorado River near its property in Bastrop, a town located east of Austin.

The tunneling company is part of Musk’s growing portfolio and is affiliated with top executives at The Boring Company who want the green light to dump some 142,500 gallons of partially treated wastewater into the Colorado River, an important Lone Star State water resource.

The Boring Company is said to be expanding its operations in Central Texas alongside Musk’s other companies, most notably Tesla which also moved to and expanded its operations in the same relative area of the state.

In addition to its headquarters building in Austin, The Boring Company wants to build another 220,000-square-foot warehouse in Bastrop County on Fallwell Lane right next to the Colorado River.

“Gapped Bass and The Boring Company share an address as well as top employees,” reported local ABC affiliate KVUE. “Gapped Bass has reportedly been buying dozens of acres of property within Bastrop County, signaling more expansion for Musk’s companies in the region.”

Musk also wants to dump waste on Texas food crops

In partnership with the Austin American-Statesman, another local media outlet, KVUE further discovered that Musk’s operation requested back in June to also place a tunnel dubbed the “Colorado River Connector Tunnel” to connect the two headquarters. That tunnel would be two miles long and completely private.

Many industrial companies dump wastewater into the Colorado River with permission from TCEQ, so chances are that Gapped Bass and The Boring Company will likewise be given the green light to dump as well.

Unlike other states that lean “blue,” Texas is a “red” state with minimal environmental protections in place. The “needs” and wants of industry almost always trump the environment, which is why increasingly more companies are moving there from places like California where regulations are more intense.

Not only does the Gapped Bass want to dump partially treated wastewater in the Colorado River, it also wants to use the sludge as irrigation on local farmland. In other words, whatever the Gapped Bass and The Boring Company have left over from their operations would end up on food crops grown in Texas.

Last May, the Austin Business Journal reported that TCEQ was already investigating The Boring Company over three separate complaints related to the company’s discharge of wastewater. This has apparently been a problematic company for a while, compliments of Musk.

Musk’s employees would live and work in the town, which is part of the reason why he and his corporate partners want private tunnels and the freedom to dump waste in the Colorado River.

“Musk is just a con artist and his cars run on coal,” wrote a commenter about Elon Musk, making note of the fact that all the parts used in his “green” electric vehicles (EVs) were made using energy from “dirty” sources like coal.

“No con like the big con,” wrote another about how Musk is not what he seems in terms of being some kind of philanthropic do-gooder.

It was also just reported that Musk wants to build his own town in Bastrop County, which he is calling a “Texas utopia.”
